EL ROUND DE LOS PORFIADOS

Hola a todos.
Les contamos que seguimos en el campamento al Pie del Gardner. Pero de ser cinco hemos caido drámáticamente a sólo tres. Pues Jarmila no podía arriesgarse a volver despues del 10 de Enero, y dado que el pronóstico meteorológoico no era muy prometedor, decidió irse ayer al Campamentos Base del Vinson a 22 Km de distancia, Pachi y Camilo la acompañaron hasta el portezuelo que da acceso al valle del Branscomb, en una jornada de 36 Km ida y vuelta.
Así ahora quedamos sólo los porfiados, "juguito de pelota", pegados, "cabeza de piolet" o como se nos quiera llamar. El pronóstico estaba equivocado y hoy esta mejorando, así esperamos iniciar la escalada a la brevedad.

We left our camp at Epperly on New Year's Day and hauled sleds around 15km north to set up a new BC under Mt Gardner.

Camilo and I camped here two years ago when we climbed Gardner with Manuel and Steve. This time the plan is to go over Gardner, bypass the summit and descend to the col linking Gardner with Tyree. From there up Tyree's NW ridge. This is the route of first ascent of Tyree, taken by Barry Corbet and John Evans in Jan 1967.

The whole route (really two routes) is quite long, high and exposed, so we'll be taking a small tent to have a rest along the way and hopefully deter any more hallucinatory visitors !

The weather is very nice today (Jan 3rd) but forecast bad for a couple of days. So we won't be starting for Tyree before Sunday at this stage.
